Attorneys from mctlaw, presented oral argument before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. ET in Heirs of Noel Pope v. United States. The hearing took place in Courtroom 5 at the National Courts Building in Washington, D.C.
The Court scheduled the argument to consider the Department of Justice’s Motion to Dismiss the case, which centers on allegations that the federal government violated its trust responsibilities in the management of oil and gas leases on restricted Choctaw allotment land in eastern Oklahoma.
Stephen Hampton, a leading member of the plaintiff group and a descendant of Noel Pope, attended the hearing in person. Other members of the extended family and client group were also invited.
The lawsuit, filed by mctlaw, seeks compensation for mismanagement of oil and gas lease proceeds and violations of federal trust duties under the Stigler Act and related laws.
