Experienced mctlaw Attorneys Lead Depo-Provera Litigation

mctlaw attorneys Tamara Spires and Michele Stephan are at the forefront of the firm’s efforts in the Depo-Provera litigation. Their prominent roles highlight mctlaw’s commitment to protecting women who have suffered severe health consequences after using Depo-Provera and related contraceptive injections. Both attorneys bring extensive experience and a personal understanding of the unique challenges faced by their female clients, reinforcing the firm’s dedication to supporting affected women.

Judges Aim for Swift Resolution of Depo-Provera Cases

Federal Judge M. Casey Rodgers, who oversees the Depo-Provera litigation, emphasized the need for quick and efficient handling of these cases. She established a 180-day timeline to address critical legal questions, including whether Depo-Provera causes meningioma. Judge Rodgers selected five initial “Pilot Cases” to rapidly address common legal issues, such as general causation and defenses raised.

Judge Rodgers also introduced Magistrate Judge Hope T. Cannon, who will play a pivotal role in managing this complex litigation. Notably, both Judge Rodgers and Magistrate Judge Cannon are women presiding over lawsuits involving serious health impacts that exclusively affect women. Their leadership emphasizes the importance of having knowledgeable and empathetic jurists handling these sensitive cases.

Upcoming Events in Depo-Provera MDL

The MDL court will coordinate closely with state courts handling similar Depo-Provera lawsuits. Attorneys from both sides will meet for an important procedural conference on March 3, 2025, to discuss next steps in the litigation.
