Mary E. O'Neal, partner at Masterman, Culbert and Tully LLP is a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
She received her B.A., cum laude, from Boston College in 1977 and her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1981.
Areas of Practice
Ms. O'Neal practices principally in the area of employment law and employment litigation, representing management.
Experience
Ms. O’Neal has had extensive administrative and litigation experience in a variety of administrative and judicial forums, defending employers in all aspects of employment-related matters, including discrimination and unlawful termination claims. She has focused significant efforts in working with her clients to assist them in learning how to recognize and handle employment-related issues. This has included preparing employment and personnel policies and conducting training for management and human resources personnel. Her practice also involves the negotiation and drafting of employment contracts and employee benefit plans; RIF analysis; and general litigation, including commercial, zoning and business disputes.
Speaking and Publications
Ms. O'Neal has written and lectured extensively on a variety of employment subjects for, among others, MCLE, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association and the Council on Education in Management.
Professional Affiliations
She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association's Labor and Employment Section and was formerly a council member of the MBA's Council on Civil Litigation.
