The Firm is the one of the oldest law firms in Massachusetts with an expertise in the representation of private property owners in eminent domain, inverse condemnation and related matters. Our experienced attorneys have served the eminent domain and condemnation needs of private property and business owners state-wide for the last 50 years. We have developed a statewide reputation for the zealous protection of property rights. Members of the Firm have successfully appeared in federal and state trial and appellate courts and before various administrative agencies in connection with land valuation in eminent domain and tax abatement proceedings.

Our experience has included representing hundreds of property owners against government taking authorities. We have represented individuals, small businesses and large corporations with a variety of land uses, including office buildings, shopping centers, strip malls, industrial properties, gas stations, restaurants, hotels and residential properties. We represented a majority of the owners affected by the Big Dig, including the owners of 150 Causeway Street (next to the old Boston Garden), which is the largest single taking in terms of value in the history of Massachusetts and one of the largest in the country. We represented most of the owners whose property was taken for the new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in South Boston, all but two of the owners affected by the Telecom City Project in Medford, Everett and Malden, and the owners of numerous pieces of property taken for the Worcester Medical City Project.

Because of the breadth and depth of our experience, we can utilize a team approach, drawing on the experience, insight and assistance of all of the eminent domain lawyers in the firm. Although we primarily represent owners, we also have represented condemning authorities, including cities, redevelopment authorities, towns and other municipal authorities.
